Hi,

I’m Lolita Rowe — an archivist, oral historian, and podcast creator passionate about making the past feel present and personal. With more than a decade of experience in archives across the Carolinas and Georgia, my work focuses on amplifying hidden voices and building community through history.

I previously created two award-winning series, Rose Library Presents: Behind the Archives and Community Conversations, recognized for their accessibility and impact by the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council.

Most recently, I created Made in Carolina, a podcast exploring the rich histories of North and South Carolina through the people who keep those stories alive.

About the Podcast

Made in Carolina is more than a podcast — it’s a platform for local storytelling, regional history, and community voices from across the Carolinas. Season One, Submerged Towns, takes listeners beneath the surface of manmade lakes like Lake Murray, Lake Marion, Lake Norman, and Jordan Lake to uncover the histories of communities that were displaced or erased.

Created and hosted by Lolita Rowe, a storyteller, archivist, and Carolina native, this podcast brings together research, oral history, and memory to shine light on stories hidden in plain sight.
